Student Dress Code & Personal Electronic Devices

Student Dress Guidelines

Please adhere to the following guidelines for elementary students. We appreciate your support in maintaining an appropriate learning environment.
  • Hats and headcovers are not to be worn indoors.
  • Clothing with off color slogans or profanity are not permitted, as well as clothing which advertises drugs, alcohol, tobacco products or illegal substances.
  • Open midriff, halter tops, tank tops, and tops with spaghetti straps are not appropriate for school and should not be worn.
  • Mesh, see-through shirts, and clothes with holes cut into them, are not appropriate and should not be worn.
  • Shorts and skirts should be below the tip of the student’s middle finger when arms are extended straight down from the shoulder.
  • Leggings must be worn with clothes which meet the “finger tip rule” stated above.
  • Flip flops are not safe for the elementary school environment and should not be worn.
Personal Electronic Devices

Students and staff may use Personal Electronic Devices (including but not limited to laptops, tablets, smartphones, and e-readers) connected only to the KGCS wireless network for academic purposes at the discretion of the school administrator and classroom instructor. At Sealston Elementary School, all devices must be turned off and kept in backpacks unless permission to use has been obtained from the teacher.

  • The privately owned electronic device owner is the only person allowed to use the device.
